How do the Legislative changes affect the Manitoba International Student Health Insurance Plan (MISHIP) currently offered by Great-West Life?
The current MISHIP program will remain in effect for those students who do not qualify for Manitoba Health (who have not obtained a study permit of at least 6 consecutive months) until August 31, 2012.
Students who receive coverage through Manitoba Health will no longer be eligible under the current MISHIP program.
Will there be alternative coverage available for the 2012 school year?
Effective September 1, 2012 Aon Hewitt is pleased to offer two new insurance programs for International Students residing and studying in Manitoba (and their eligible dependents):
1.) Provincial Health Replacement Plus program for International Students that do not qualify for Manitoba Health (comparable to the current MISHIP program)
2.) Supplemental Health program for International Students that do qualify for Manitoba Health, and require additional coverage.

How do I apply for coverage for the 2012 school year?
Please contact your school administration office to confirm their participation in the program and obtain further information on the application process. Coverage can be available and take effect as early as September 1, 2012. |
