Exclusions & Limitations

STUDENTS
Expenses related to the following are not covered under the Plan:
- Charges which are in excess of the amount provided in the Manitoba Provincial Fee Schedule
- Services that are not medically necessary
(for example, plastic surgery)
- Health services performed at the request of a third party, such as examinations for employment, drivers' licence, insurance, travel, immigration or emigration
- Personal services such as television, radio, telephone, etc.
- Services provided by psychologists and dieticians outside of hospital or institution
- Services provided by chiropodists and podiatrists
- Services provided by audiologists, physiotherapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists in private practice
- Acupuncture
- Telephone advice
- Examinations, laboratory test, x-rays and other procedures related to services not covered under the Plan
- Routine eye exams for persons between the ages of 19 and 65
- The cost of eyeglass frames, lenses, contact lenses, or the fitting of these
- Preparation of records, certificates or communications, or testimony in court
- Group immunization or other group services
- Additional charges for private or semi-private hospital room
- Private nursing care
- Personal care home charges
- Drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction
- Any portion of a hospital stay which extends beyond the date that your physician indicates that hospital care is no longer required
- Care and treatment provided at an institution associated with a mineral spring or spa
- Care and treatment covered by the Workers' Compensation Board, the Department of Veterans' Services, or other statute.
- Care and treatment in a tuberculosis hospital
- Medical equipment such as crutches, canes, wheelchairs, etc.
- Services provided by a medical practitioner to himself or any of his eligible dependents
- Laboratory and x-ray procedures performed in ineligible facilities (for example, x-rays performed or requested by a chiropractor)
- Chiropractic services other than adjustments, and chiropractic treatment as a result of a motor vehicle accident covered by Manitoba Public Insurance
- Services provided by a practitioner in the healing arts, who is not a medically licensed physician
NOTE
Expenses not covered under the Manitoba International Students Health Insurance Plan include, but are not limited to, those listed above.
