Opting Out

ENROLLING IN THE PLAN
STUDENTS

A student may opt out of MISHIP under specific circumstances as follows:  

          • If the student is sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and health insurance coverage is included in the agency's support,
          • If the student is on a scholarship which provides health insurance coverage,
          • If the student has coverage under Manitoba Health Services Commission, or
          • If the student has coverage under another Canadian provincial health plan.

         

        To opt out of MISHIP you must:

              1. Print the Declaration of Alternative Health Coverage Form
              2. Complete the Form
              3. Sign the Form
              4. Present the Form to your school's office:
          • University of Manitoba – Registrar's Office*
          • University of Winnipeg, Main Campus – The International Office*
          • Brandon University – Financial and Registration Services Office*
          • Other Schools – contact your school's administration office

        *Note: If you have not enrolled through a main campus office, as listed above, present your Declaration of Alternative Health Coverage Form to your program's administration office.
