QUESTION: I paid for coverage under the Manitoba International Students Health Insurance Plan, but have not received any information about my coverage or about the Plan. What should I do?

ANSWER: Your information is processed 7 - 10 business days after your application form is received by Aon Consulting. Your MISHIP Identification Card and claim forms will be sent to your school for pick up.

Contact your school, your MISHIP Identification Card may be there waiting for you.

If your school has provided your information to Aon Consulting more that 10 business days ago and your school has not received your information and MISHIP Identification Card please call Aon Consulting:

An Aon Consulting representative will assist you in confirming your coverage under the Plan.


QUESTION:

My current coverage under the Plan expires on August 31st . I am continuing my studies in September and I would like to renew my coverage.  How do I do this?

ANSWER:

Your coverage must be renewed September 1 st . To renew your coverage simply follow the instructions provided under Renewing Coverage.

QUESTION: I have decided to extend my course of studies, but my health coverage expires soon. How do I extend my coverage?

ANSWER: To extend your health coverage under the Plan, follow the instructions provided under Extending Coverage.


QUESTION: I have purchased health coverage under the Plan to the end of the school year. However, I have withdrawn from school and I will be returning to my home country. Am I entitled to a refund?

ANSWER: You may be entitled to a partial refund from the Plan. To terminate your coverage and apply for a refund, you must provide written notice to Aon Consulting. Please follow the instructions provided under Terminating Coverage.

I have some questions regarding which medical services are covered under the Plan. Who do I contact?

ANSWER:  You could refer to the Medical Services & Supplies section of this site or you may contact Great-West Life:

When you call, please have the following information ready:

  • Plan name: Manitoba International Students Health Insurance Plan
  • Policy number: 42074
  • Your personal identification number (stated on your MISHIP Identification Card)


QUESTION: Am I covered for medical expenses incurred outside of Manitoba?

ANSWER: Yes, emergency services are covered. However, your coverage for eligible medical expenses incurred outside Manitoba is limited to the cost of insured services that would have been covered had the treatment been received in Manitoba (If you are hospitalized in Canada, but outside Manitoba, the Plan will reimburse you based on the standard rates of the province in which you are hospitalized.).

The cost of medical expenses outside Manitoba could be significantly higher than the amount that would be covered by the Manitoba International Students Health Insurance Plan.

Costs not covered under MISHIP are your responsibility.


QUESTION: I recently submitted a claim, but I received notification from Great-West Life that I am not covered. What should I do?

ANSWER:

An Aon Consulting representative will confirm your enrollment in the Plan. Once your eligibility has been verified, you will be able to resubmit your claim to Great-West Life.
