Extending Your Coverage
COVERAGE MANAGEMENT
STUDENTS
If you enrolled for coverage for a partial year only (i.e. your coverage terminates before August 31st ), and you are now extending your course of study, you will need to extend your health coverage:
- Contact your school for a Manitoba International Students Health Insurance Application form and the cost of extending your coverage.
- When completing the application form, make sure to indicate that you have been covered under MISHIP before and provide your ID number from your MISHIP Identification Card.
- Your coverage under this Plan may be automatically extended upon registration at your school.
- In this case, your premiums for this coverage would be assessed along with your academic fees and included in your fee statement
- You should contact your school to confirm this
- Payment should be made payable to “Great-West Life Assurance Company”
(Great-West Life does not accept cash or credit card payments.)
- Return your completed application form and payment to your school
Once your application has been processed a new MISHIP Identification Card will be sent to your school.
NOTE: At the time you initially enrolled in the Plan, if you had eligible dependents, you should have applied for family coverage. If you failed to do so, you may not apply for family coverage at a later time.
