Extending Your Coverage
COVERAGE MANAGEMENT
STUDENTS
If you enrolled for coverage for a partial year only (i.e. your coverage terminates before August 31st ), and you are now extending your course of study, you will need to extend your health coverage:
- If you are extending your course of study at the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, or Brandon University, your coverage under this Plan may be automatically extended and premium for coverage included on your fee statement upon registration at your school. Check with your school to confirm this.
- For all other students contact your school for a Manitoba International Students Health Insurance Application form and the cost of extending your coverage.
- When completing the application form, make sure to indicate that you have been covered under MISHIP before and provide your ID Number from your MISHIP Identification Card.
- Your school can advise you who to make your cheque payable to. If payment is being made to “Great-West Life Assurance Company”, you should note that Great-West Life does not accept cash or credit card payments.
- Return your completed application form and payment to your school.
Once your application has been processed a new MISHIP Identification Card will be sent to your school.
NOTE: At the time you initially enrolled in the Plan, if you had eligible dependents, you should have applied for family coverage. If you failed to do so, you may not apply for family coverage at a later time.
